Childrens paddle board lessons

Our childrens sup lessons are great for fun and education.

If your kids are part of a family lesson, we will take 11 years and up, but if they’re coming to paddle in a group or privately, then they need to be 13 and up.

The children, learn to enjoy and be safe around the water, whilst gaining the proper skills on a stand up paddle board.

Depending on the group, we can throw in some games as well, so it’s not just about paddling.

FFamily sup lessons

The Family SUP lessons  are run all throughout the season and can be booked online for a 1 or 2 hour session.

The Family Group booking allows 2 adults and 2 kids,to either relax and play a few sup games or spend the time learning to paddle.

The minimal age requirement for kids is 11yrs +

Kids love to splash and play, so we keep the whole session light hearted and fun, and go at your pace.

We take safety very seriously with all of our paddle sports and will make sure the whole family is drilled in not only paddling but awareness.  If you do go for a 2 hour session, there is a lot more time to drill those new skills whilst having fun.

Group paddleboard lessons

Group intro sup lessons are setup to allow anyone, be they an individual or small group of you to get on the water with others.

Throughout the summer these groups are pretty busy so it is worth getting yourself booked in sooner than later.

The groups lessons are easy going, and our aim is to make sure everyone gets up and going, so it’s not a race.

Our sessions will run with a minimum of 3 and max of 14. If we don’t have sufficient numbers we may reschedule.

Semi private lessons

The semi private lessons are for you and one other, only.

It may be you’re buying a birthday gift for your partner, so the Semi private paddle board lesson is perfect as you can paddle together, without random strangers on your session.

If part way through the session, you want to paddle off together, then you can let us know and we will meet you back at the van when you’re done.

1-2-1 or private lessons

The 1-2-1 or private lessons are tailored just for you.

Our private lessons are run to an exceptional standard, especially if you’re after really honing in on techniques. Ian Phillips is a “real waterman” and his paddle boarding experience has left no stone unturned, with a very detailed eye.

This session is blocked out so we paddle together and focus on you only.

You might be looking for a birthday gift for someone or just want to specifically focus on your own skills like step back turns or paddling faster and more skillfully.

Downwind paddboarding lessons

The downwind paddleboard lessons are a great way to experience rougher water and wind.

We work this session in different ways depending on the sea state, tide and wind direction, so we may be running the boat alongside or paddling with you.

Either way, you’re going to start learning how to harness the power of the wind and bumps into your paddleboarding.

This session runs for small groups only and paddlers who are comfortable on their boards and on the water.

Sup Lesson Taster

The SUP  Lesson Taster session is run over 2 hours on Chichester Canal.

For the first hour you have a lesson with us, and then for the second hour you’re set to paddle alone.

This session is suitable for those groups who feel comfortable on the water without us being by your side.

Note: during the lesson we’re responsible for you on the water, but once alone you’re simply hiring kit. If we feel it is not safe to leave you unaided we will discuss this at the time.

Let's Go

How do our windsurfing lessons run
Our aim is to get you up and windsurfing quickly, as water time is where you really experience Windsurfing, so we have a quickstart process for our lessons: Meet and greet at start time (we start on time, so please arrive early)
  1. Gather with all kit on the water’s edge.
  2. Quick safety briefing from the instructor.
  3. On water  / land demo. Each person engages in this process as doing is better than seeing.
  4. All onto the water.
This whole process should take no more than 30 minutes, giving us a windsurfing time of around an hour and a half.
What to bring
  • A towel and some warm clothing, even in the summer, is recommended.
  • Asthma spray or epi-pen if you use them. Please read the rules regards this.
  • Light food and drink for after the session.
  • Jelly shoes or watersports shoes.
  • Wetsuit if you have one.
Kit supplied
  • All equipment and tuition are included, but it is preferable if you have a wetsuit of your own and booties. Buoyancy aids are supplied, unless you have your own.
  • Wetsuits must be prebooked.
Itinerary
  • Arrive 20 minutes before your time slot.
  • Upon arrival, we need you to complete a registration form, get kitted out, after which time we will deliver a safety briefing.
Rules
  • Please do not bring any valuable items.
  • You must manage any meds and make us aware pre-joining the session.
  • Sessions can be weather dependent and may be rescheduled if conditions are not suitable, especially open water and surf.
  • Your session starts at the agreed lesson time advertised and cannot be offset or delayed on the day.
Wing sup lessons get you started!
It is important to understand the fundamentals, of any windsport, so you can progress quickly, which is why we’ve developed our 2 programs.
  • 2.5 hour wind sup taster session is aimed at those who have some windsport experience, especially windsurfing or kiting.
  • 4 hour wind sup lesson is for those with no windsport experience, so we go into more detail about understanding wind and this environment.
All of our sessions run in flat water with winds from 8 knots upwards.
What kit do we use
We’ve tried many types of boards to give the best experience and landed on our windsurf boards that are stable and have great upwind capabilities. This means you can focus on the wing and new ideas, over trying to balance, which really improves the learning speed. We also use the BBTalkin intercoms to chat with you, as the wind can make it difficult to shout instructions once on the water. This is a headset attached to a helmet, so you have nothing more to do other  than listen and reply.
Where do we Wing SUP and Foil
Surfs SUP Watersports is based in Bracklesham, with our mobile facility working in Chichester Harbour, Poole, Pagham, East Wittering and Hayling Island. Many of our wing sup lessons are run in Chichester Harbour, which offers flat water and clean wind, affording us a safe environment.
