wing SUP
lessons

Wing SUP lessons and Wing foiling are the latest in watersports to bring lightwind performance and a buzz to those in between days.

What wing sup lessons do we offer

Our wing sup lessons are a great introduction to this growing sport known as wing foiling.

Foiling has been growing over the years and when wing foiling came along it opened the doors to light wind sailing. Fitting between windsurfing and paddleboarding, you can get up and going in around 10 knots of wind and enjoy even more water time with a real buzz.

How do our wing sup lessons work

Wing sup lessons get you started!

It is important to understand the fundamentals, of any windsport, so you can progress quickly, which is why we’ve developed our 2 programs.

  • 2.5 hour wind sup taster session is aimed at those who have some windsport experience, especially windsurfing or kiting.
  • 4 hour wind sup lesson is for those with no windsport experience, so we go into more detail about understanding wind and this environment.

All of our sessions run in flat water with winds from 8 knots upwards.

What kit do we use

We’ve tried many types of boards to give the best experience and landed on our windsurf boards that are stable and have great upwind capabilities.

This means you can focus on the wing and new ideas, over trying to balance, which really improves the learning speed.

We also use the BBTalkin intercoms to chat with you, as the wind can make it difficult to shout instructions once on the water. This is a headset attached to a helmet, so you have nothing more to do other  than listen and reply.

Where do we wing sup

Surfs SUP Watersports is based in Bracklesham, with our mobile facility working in Chichester Harbour, Poole, Pagham, East Wittering and Hayling Island.

Many of our wing sup lessons are run in Chichester Harbour, which offers flat water and clean wind, affording us a safe environment.

Some quick tips and homework for you

  • You need to be able to switch from goofy to regular foot on your board, so if you’re already paddleboarding try doing a jump stance from one side to another.
  • Try to learn the basics of wind/direction and effects of wind.
  • If you’re going to buy a wing just to practice with on a sup for a while, buy something between 4 and 5 metres in size. And don’t forget to get some drift stopper fins, to stop your board drifting sideways.
  • It is easier to sup wing in 7+ knots of wind. Any less than that and your board just slips sideways more than going forwards.
  • Don’t rush out and buy a starter kit just yet. It’s expensive, so get some practice on a sup first with just a wing.
