It has been known to the locals for quite some time and they have ridden it and scoped it out, but decided to wait before announcing it to the world. Waiting for those perfect conditions to show another Irish gem.
Prowlers was discovered by Northcore™ surfer Richie Fitzgerald and NZ photographer Aaron Pierce.
As with many big waves, Prowlers is found some 2km off shore so access is not easy, but you wouldn’t care about that if you’re a big wave junkie. Starting from the Cliff of Moher you’re gonna need a jet ski or boat to access the wave off the West coast of Ireland.
The wave builds on an undersea reef and can easily handle waves of 50ft+. Add that to the freezing cold waters, wind and currents and you really have serious wave that can only be tackled by the very best in the world.
