Head of the Dart SUP Race 2016 is back for SUNDAY 17th APRIL, Dartmouth to Totnes
SUP racing has been taking a hold over the past few years and one of the famous races here in the UK is the Head of the Dart HODT.
As always, this race is dictated by the tides on the River Dart so for 2016 the race will run from Dartmouth up to the rowing club at Totnes which is an eight mile slog inland.
The race has always drawn in a great mix of paddlers from the recreational to the more serious sup racer looking to win on their latest carbon race board.
Eligibility for the race
If you are over 16 and have a reasonable level of fitness i.e able to paddle 8 miles on NOT glass flat water then you should definitely consider the HOTD. Saying that you do have a following tide so you’ll be getting a push along unless there’s a howling northerly wind pushing you back.
Don’t feel put off by the number of riders taking part, in fact embrace it. Yes, it’s a race but there is a great vibe and spirit amongst the paddlers be they the more seasoned paddler or total beginner.
Entry information can be found on the event site www.headofthedart.com.
