Who is the Aqua Marina beast aimed at?
Board length of 10’6 puts this firmly in the camp of general paddleboard that won’t offer the more adventurous paddler an adventure board. It simply won’t offer the glide you’d need to cover bigger distances, but if just having fun at the beach or dashing round your local lake is your thing, then it is definitely worth a look.
It has less volume than the Fusion, but at 300 litres, this is plenty to carry a parent and kids or a dog, even with a heavier person at the helm.
It’s a super easy board to paddle with stability built in, but you can loosen this sort of board up on a wave by stepping back a bit so worth considering if you goto the sea.
The comfortable diamond grooving footpad provides extra grip while the strengthened stainless steel leash D-ring ensures a safe ride in small waves.
Constructed with Aqua Marina’s exclusive Drop Stitch Light Technology, the Fusion is lightweight but super stiff.
We use the Beast, in our sup school, for stand up paddle board lessons in both flat and open water conditions, so we believe in its abilities.
FAQs
Is this board for me:
being 6 inches thick and packed full of volume, the Aqua Marina Beast is better suited to people over 80kg or those looking to carry a dog or kids on board.
Is it easy to pump up:
isups are easy enough to paddle up with the kit pump, but you can make life easer if you use an electric pump
How easy is it to carry this board:
The Beast comes with a normal carry handle in the middle. AS with all isups, the boards are light, so weight is not an issue, but good carry technique helps if there is any wind
Can I carry kids with me on the board:
There’s plenty of volume in this board to put small children or a dog on the front.
Is this board good value:
As with all the Aqua Marina isups, you’re getting a well made board, with quality materials, double skin and well priced.
Will my kids be able to use the board:
Yes, but with a caveat. Boards of inches thick are fine, but bear in mind that there is more windage, so kids cannot control the board so easily if the wind kicks in.
If it is a family board to suit dad, mum and the kids, then no problem, but if you are looking for something for smaller kids then try the Aqua Marina Coral.
Will I be able to progress on this board:
There’s no reason you cannot move into doing longer paddles, ocean paddling and even some small sup surfing.
