option 1 - land based intro to windsurfing

Ideal for first-timers, this session introduces you to the windsurfing kit, basic wind awareness, and essential safety principles — all on dry land.

Held at Bracklesham Bay, this hour and a half course helps you to understand the very basic principles, using a windsurfing simulator on land for the lesson.  (note: 1 simulator for the group)

What's Involved in the Intro Lesson?

By learning the key concepts and handling techniques on land, you’ll feel far more prepared and confident when it’s time for your first on-water windsurfing lesson.

Who should attend the Intro Land Lesson:

Our land based session is great for:

  • Anyone aged 10 and up – ideal for juniors, kids and beginners
  • Families or groups looking for a fun, low-pressure introduction to windsurfing
  • People on holiday, who want to give windsurfing a go, but the conditions on the water aren’t suitable
  • Those who want to build confidence and knowledge before taking a full water-based lesson

This is a great way to ease into the sport while learning safely and gaining a clear understanding of how windsurfing works and the things you need to know before taking a full on windsurfing lesson .

What we will cover:

During your session you will get to try each move on the simulator, plus you’ll be watching and breaking down how others do things, so you can see first hand what works and what doesn’t work.

  • Understanding how wind affects movement
  • Rigging and equipment setup
  • Handling the sail and board on land
  • Land based windsurf simulator to demostrate and try the basic movements, including, tacking, gybing, secure position, sailing stand, foot positions, stance and more.

option 2 - start windsurfing (beginner)

The Start Windsurfing session is your first time on water and getting to grips with the basics. Both on land and on the water, this training session lays down the foundations for your progression.

First time getting on the water

As a beginner you’ve got no bad habits to break, which is why this is the right time to focus on some core techniques, that will really speed up the learning process and help you to recognise key movements that are fundamental to proper advancement.

To make life easier, we use BBTalkin headsets, which are 2 way bluetooth communication devices. This has been a real game changer for teaching as it allows us to receive and offer constant feedback, exactly when it’s needed.

Your journey begins with our START WINDSURFING lessons, which is designed to get you up and sailing within hours. This course is our most popular session, for adults and children alike who are just getting started.

Who should attend the Beginner Lesson:

* If you have zero windsports experience, or never ever windsurfed before then this is an absolute must.

Helpful Information & beginner Lesson Details

Find out more about where we run our beginner windsurfing lessons, and answers to frequently asked questions about our windsurfing courses.

when do we run beginner lessons?

We continue to teach beginner windsurfing all year round, as many of you prefer to come when it’s not so busy in the summer.

As you’d imagine, the summer is warmer in the sea, but during spring and autumn, we get more reliable winds.

In the summer we have longer days so work from early morning to later in the evening, but in the winter, we mainly do weekends.

what beginner windsurf kit do we provide?

Our beginner windsurfing lessons use the best learner board and sails from Starboard and O’Shea.

The boards are super stable and have centre boards, with with large deck pads.

The sails are small enough to keep them light, whilst being usable by adults and teenagers.

Sailors are provided with a buoyancy aid for safety reasons, with a wetsuit as optional.

where do we teach windsurfing?
